Recent funding from the AWS InCommunities Fredericksburg Regional Fund has enabled Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation to kick off their Bilingual Heart Health Initiative. With resources benefiting both English and Spanish speakers, this program is set to serve 2,000 individuals across Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Caroline counties.
“This Initiative has been in development at Gwyneth’s Gift for quite some time, so we are thrilled to see it come to fruition,” said Jennifer Griffin, Foundation President. “Our efforts are aimed to diminish the negative effects that language barriers often have on public health.”
Educational resources on the topics of Hands-Only CPR, AED use, and heart-healthy habits will be available to individuals and their families, free of charge. These services provide greater accessibility to crucial lifesaving information. Expanding community awareness contributes to the vision of Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation: creating a Culture of Action where communities are educated, confident and empowered to save the lives of individuals suffering from cardiac arrest.
“Language barriers and limited access to preventative healthcare are just two vulnerabilities that the Hispanic and Latino communities experience,” said Veronica Gutierrez, Director of Operations and Community Engagement. “Culturally catered services like our Bilingual Heart Health Initiative will bring great change to the areas that need it most.”
